Sea, air or land, the Cape is the adventure's destination.  And, as befits it's status as one of the world's most beautiful cities, we offer adventures to suit everyone's adrenalin requirements.  Paddle a stable, comfortable touring kayak along the coast - the uniqueness of the Cape lends itself to exciting trips throughout the year.

  Hiking and Walking

There is no better way to experience wild places than to put your boots on and put your feet on the ground, one in front of the other. In South Africa we have some awesomely wonderful, fantastically scenic hiking trails.

  Sand boarding

We're not well endowed with snow, but we do have some wonderful sand dunes where you can slide your feet into a sandboard (it's a modified snowboard) and head down lots of quite steep, snow-white slopes. And when you fall over you don't get wet or cold. This sport is most organised near Cape Town but there are some wonderful spots in the Eastern Cape

  Climbing

South Africa has some of the best climbing in the world. There is something worth climbing almost everywhere but some areas do stand out. For a close-to-city experience nothing can possibly beat Cape Town. The city is built around Table Mountain, which is now a national park and consists of two great, hard rock types - Table Mountain sandstone, which gives nice positive edges, and Cape granite, which offers fantastic friction climbing. There are hundreds of sport and traditional routes within the city limits. It's not surprising that this is where the Mountain Club of South Africa started.

If your idea of fun is mental anguish, straining muscles, aching fingers, and the knowledge that if you let go the only thing stopping you from meeting the floor ten meters below is you safety rope, welcome to the exhilarating world of Wall Climbing

  Shopping

Shopping in Cape Town and its suburbs can be an exciting experience. Craft and pottery shops, art galleries and antique shops abound. Old Cape Dutch yellowwood furniture is much sought after; excellent reproductions are a good substitute. Several clothing manufacturers have shops where the public can buy direct, often at reduced prices. The A-Z of Factory Shops gives details of outlets in and around Cape Town. Various shopping mall are located in the Western Cape:

  • V&A Waterfront,

  • Canal Walk,

  • Cavendish Square,

  • Tygervalley

  • Cape Gate
