The following
courses are offered:
FOUNDATION FLOWER CLASSES
Introduction to Flower Design (Beginners Class)
In order to arrange flowers, one must learn to 'see', become confident
of the natural world and awaken our eyes to the lovely language of
form. In doing this we discover our creative self and dissolve the
barriers that are preventing our creative impulse from finding
expression. This course helps demystify the creative process by making
it part of our daily life. Twigs, water, stones, material and
vegetables will be combined into traditional, modern and contemporary
flower arrangements.
Western Flower Design (Intermediate Class)
Is a course in basic techniques in floristry. It includes learning the
elements of design, the use of the right containers, accessories,
colour schemes and choosing plant material and secrets of the trade.
This course teaches the rules of floristry and allows for a little
self expression.
Contempory Flower Design (Advanced Class)
A course in interpreting florist techniques, learning the principals
of design to suit your own creative self. This course will enable you
to have a greater understanding of Rhythm, Scale, Dominance and
Contrast and Harmony in flowers.
Modern flower design (Master Class)
A course in learning the characteristics and techniques to modern
flower design and the application there of. This course will enable
you to do Parallel, Cascade, Landscape and Construction Design.
Xhosa Class
Teaches the basic techniques to floristry. The class is taught in
Xhosa by Elijah Radu who, for ten years has been the florist at the
world renowned Mount Nelson Hotel. His passion is to make floristry
more accessible to a wide cross-section of South Africans who have not
had the opportunity to enjoy this art form. Bursaries are available.
Ikebana
A course aimed to provide the beginner with a concise, but dependable
foundation in understanding the rules to Japanese flower arranging |
