The unique
experience of hot air ballooning is, essentially a rather elegant,
eccentric adventure in space and time, and promises an excitement all
of its own. Hover at tree-top height for a chat with or a wave to a
local farmer as you go. Or, if you wish, and conditions permit, your
pilot can take you to soar high among the clouds. |

fantastic gliding country. The hot, sunny, high-veld produces
fantastic thermals in summer and the escarpment and Cape Mountains
produce excellent wave, usually but not exclusively in winter. (How

THUNDER CITY - THE
ULTIMATE FAST JET FLIGHT EXPERIENCE!
Based alongside Cape
Town international airport, Thunder City offers viewing opportunity as
well as flights in these incredible machines.
This unique aviation
experience is all encompassing. You will need to allocate about 4
hours at Thunder City. On arrival, you will be fitted with a flight
suit and helmet. You will undergo full helmet (oxygen and
communications) and seat ejector training. Then you will plan your
preferred sortie (flight) with the pilot, before have a pre-flight
seat strap-in, in the jet of your choice. For your fast jet flight
experience, choose one of the following 3 ex-combat jets.
THE ENGLISH
ELECTRIC LIGHTNING
Thunder City operates the world's only twin-engined two-seater
(side-by-side) supersonic interceptor, the English Electric Lightning.
This amazing aircraft is powered by two Rolls Royce Avon 302
turbojets.
This aircraft is the
creme-de-la-creme of fighter jets. The Lightning still holds a number
of world climb-to-altitude records and is known for its vertical climb
performance, capable of a speed of Mach 2.2 (1500mph), and an initial
climb rate of 50,000 ft/min.
BAe BUCCANEER
The British Aerospace Buccaneers are only flown from Thunder City,
Cape Town. This tandem two-seater aggressor is designed for
low-level, high-speed attack. Powered by two Rolls Royce Spey
non-afterburning bypass turbofans, these awesome machines perform just
below the speed of sound at low altitude.
HAWKER HUNTER
The Hawker Hunter was originally designed as a superior air fighter
which, due to it's versatility, was easily adapted for air to ground
attack and reconnaissance flights. It is an exceptionally agile
two-seater air combat trainer.
ThunderCity have 2
two-seater Hunters that can be used for training, aerobatics, low
flying and general flying. Powered by the Avon 122 series turbojet,
this immaculate aircraft allows you to experience high 'g' adrenalin
performance, like you have never felt before. |
